Texas Beats Southern Cal 37-14

Great Win for Texas

What an incredible win for the Texas Longhorn football program.  The Forty Acres was absolutely lit on Saturday, and the new game day activities and programs which Chris Del Conte has put in place yielded big results.  Having the legendary USC Trojans in town of course helped, and the Longhorns played in front of a record crowd of 103,507.  A record crowd to witness the 900th win for our own legendary football team.

After USC’s fast start in the first quarter and a 14-3 lead, Coach Herman and his staff pulled all the right levers.   The Longhorns scored 37 unanswered points, starting with a great 47 yard touchdown pass from Sam Ehlinger to Lil’Jordan Humphrey.  Cameron Dicker kicked two more field goals in the second quarter to give Texas a 16-14 lead.

In the third quarter we saw the Longhorns come out on fire.  Ehlinger to Joshua Moore for 27 yards and a touchdown, and a 23-14 lead for Texas.  After a Texas fumble, the Trojans looked to keep it close with a field goal.  But Caden Sterns made a great rush to block it, and Anthony Wheeler took it 46 yards to the house.

Huge props to Todd Orlando and the defense, as USC had negative net rushing yards.  Their running backs were shut down.  That is seriously good rush defense.  Texas keeps playing like this, and they will win a lot more football games.

Can’t wait to write this week!  In the meantime, congrats to Coach Herman and the Texas Longhorns!
